Cora Wren spent nine seasons as a wildland firefighter before she wrote a word for anyone but herself. Ember & Ash began as a journal she kept through a summer of record fires, and grew into the debut she’d been carrying for a decade.
She writes from a small cabin in the Pacific Northwest — usually with a dog asleep on her feet and coffee going cold beside her.
“I wanted to write the book I needed the year everything burned down.”
